This is the exact setup I use to turn raw clips into finished, captioned videos that are ready to post. Connect Claude to HyperFrames once, drop in your footage, and describe the edit in plain words. Claude builds it, you watch the preview, and you export the MP4.
HyperFrames is a free, open source video engine from HeyGen. It turns HTML, animation and media into real MP4 files. Claude writes all of that for you, so you never touch code. You talk, Claude edits.
Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. The free Claude plan does not include Claude Code. See plans
Open source (Apache 2.0). Rendering on your own computer uses no HeyGen credits.
Runs the HyperFrames tools in the background. nodejs.org
The engine that writes your final MP4 file. ffmpeg.org
Mac (macOS 13+), Windows 10+ or Linux with 4 GB of RAM or more. Videos render on your machine, so more RAM means faster renders.
A talking head clip, a screen recording, a product shot, or nothing at all. Claude can also build a video from a text idea.
The only paid piece is your Claude plan. Optional extras like AI voices, avatars or generated media from other services have their own prices. Plans and prices can change, so check each provider before you buy.
Never used a terminal? That is fine. On a Mac open the app called Terminal. On Windows open PowerShell. Then copy and paste each command. Anthropic has a short terminal guide if you get stuck.
Pick your computer and paste the command. It shows no progress while it downloads, so give it a minute.
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bashirm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iexOpen a new terminal window and run the first line. You should see a version number. Then start Claude and sign in with your Pro or Max account in the browser window that opens.
claude --version
claudePrefer clicking over typing? The Claude desktop app for Mac and Windows has a Code tab that uses the same plugins you install below. You still need the terminal once for the plugin step.
These two free tools do the heavy lifting behind the scenes. You install them once and forget about them.
Uses Homebrew. If you do not have it yet, install it first from brew.sh (one command on their homepage).
brew install node ffmpegRun these in PowerShell, then close and reopen PowerShell.
winget install OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS
winget install Gyan.FFmpegUbuntu or Debian. Get Node.js 22 or newer from nodejs.org (your system version may be too old), then:
sudo apt install ffmpegThe first line should print v22 or higher. The second should print an FFmpeg version.
node -v
ffmpeg -versionStart claude and paste this. Claude checks your computer and asks before it runs anything.
Check if Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg are installed on this computer. If not, install them the right way for my system. Show me each command and wait for my OK before you run it.This is the step that makes it all work. The HyperFrames plugin teaches Claude the whole video workflow: planning, captions, animation, audio mixing, preview and render.
Paste these in your normal terminal (not inside a Claude chat). The first line adds the official HyperFrames plugin store, the second installs it.

claude plugin details hyperframesHyperFrames ships updates often. Start claude, type /plugin, open Marketplaces, choose hyperframes and select Enable auto update. Plugins from outside Anthropic do not update on their own until you do this.
Start a fresh Claude session (or type /reload-plugins) and paste this. If you see a title card preview, you are connected.
Using /hyperframes:hyperframes, make a 5 second title card that says "Hello world".Not using Claude Code? HyperFrames also works with Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI and other agents. Run npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes in your project folder and choose Core Skills. Details in the plugin guide.
The free HyperFrames Studio app (Mac and Linux) gives you a real timeline. It uses your Claude Code as its brain. Click a caption, circle a spot, or pin a comment at a moment, then send all your notes to Claude in one go.
Go to hyperframes.dev/studio and choose Download for macOS (or the Linux download). Open it and sign in with a free HeyGen account.
The first time you send a request, the app opens Connect Claude Code. Since you installed Claude in step 03, just sign in and wait for Claude Code is connected. Full instructions
Press V to select an element, D to draw on the picture, C to comment. Your notes stack up as pending edits. Send up to 10 at once to Claude.
First, teach Claude your style once with this prompt. It creates a reusable skill so every future video comes out consistent. Swap the [GOLD PARTS] for your own details.
Create a reusable skill called "my-video-style" that edits my videos with HyperFrames the way I like them. Use the HyperFrames plugin (/hyperframes:hyperframes) and check its current docs instead of guessing commands. MY STYLE Format: vertical 9:16 at 1080x1920 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Hook: a bold title card in the first 2 seconds that states the payoff of the video. Captions: word by word, 2 to 4 words on screen at a time, centered just below the middle of the frame. Highlight one key word per line in [MY ACCENT COLOR, e.g. #C4956A]. Font: [MY FONT, e.g. Playfair Display]. Overlays: short text callouts and lower thirds whenever I mention a name, number, tool or step. Never cover my face. Pacing: cut long pauses, filler words and repeated takes, but never change the meaning of what I say. Audio: a quiet music bed that ducks under my voice. My voice is always the clearest thing. Ending: a clean end card that says [MY CALL TO ACTION, e.g. Comment GUIDE for the link]. Brand: colors [MY BRAND COLORS], logo file [PATH TO MY LOGO, optional]. MY RULES 1. Before you build, show me a short plan (scenes, caption style, overlays, music) and wait for my OK. 2. Keep my original footage untouched. Every video gets its own project folder. 3. Before captions are final, ask me about any names, brands or numbers the transcript might get wrong. 4. Always open the preview first. Only render the final MP4 when I say "render it". 5. When I say "save this look", update this skill with what we just did. Before you save the skill, show me its full contents and wait for my confirmation.
Open Claude in a folder with your clip and paste one of these. Replace the gold parts.
Using my-video-style, turn [my-clip.mp4] into a finished vertical video. Make a new project folder called [video-name]. Plan the edit first, then build it and open the preview.
Using /hyperframes, add animated captions to [my-clip.mp4] in my-video-style. Keep the footage and spoken edit unchanged. Ask me about any names or terms the transcript might get wrong.
Using /hyperframes, package [my-clip.mp4] with designed overlays: a kinetic title for the hook, lower thirds for names, and a callout card for every number or step I mention. Keep my face clear.
Using /hyperframes, tighten [my-clip.mp4]: remove long pauses, filler words and repeated takes. Show me the list of cuts with timestamps before you apply them.
Using /hyperframes, make a 3 second motion graphic hook that says "[MY HOOK LINE]" in my brand colors, 9:16, as a transparent overlay I can place over the start of my clip.
Looks good. Render it as the final MP4 at 1080x1920 and tell me exactly where the file is saved. Then add anything new we did to my-video-style.
Record your clip and drop it into a new folder. Open Claude in that folder.
Paste the "New video" prompt. Read the plan Claude shows you and say OK.
Watch the preview, give notes in plain words, then say "render it" and post.
Batch your week. Drop five clips in one folder and ask: "Edit all of these in my-video-style, one project each." Claude works through them while you do something else.
claude --version again. If it still fails, follow the install troubleshooting page from Anthropic./reload-plugins or start a new Claude session. Then check the plugin is there:
claude plugin details hyperframesffmpeg -version. If nothing prints, repeat step 04. HyperFrames also has a built in health check you can run inside your project folder:
npx hyperframes doctornpx hyperframes previewclaude plugin update hyperframes@hyperframesOnce Claude can edit your videos, you can build a whole content system around it. I share new AI workflows like this every week.
